Presentation

Long time ago, When friends and family asked me what my job was about, I didn’t know what to say. UX or Product Design weren’t even defined fields back then. I usually replied, ‘applying common sense to web design.’

Title

“Attending conferences like Microsoft’s MIX 2007 and Designertopia opened my eyes to the potential of UX.”

During this period of change, I had the opportunity to attend some significant Microsoft events focused on User Experience. UX was a buzzword then, often overused and covering far more than intended, sometimes going as far as the now-infamous “Windows Vista.”

Still, I was privileged to attend some of the world’s most influential events on UX and development trends, courtesy of Microsoft. In these events, I saw the foundational ideas that later solidified into today’s user-centered design discipline.

Examples

“Over time, I understood that UX design, much like storytelling, has its own layers.”

The term “User Experience” was first used by Jesse James Garrett in his book The Elements of User Experience, which outlines a five-layer model from abstract to concrete. Here, I’ll walk you through this journey with a real-world example: the Jettainer tracking app for Lufthansa.
